First got my hang gliding "P1", as it was then called, in 1983 but had no car, then got married, had kids, etc., so didn't fly until going back to school again to get my CP in 1994. Then struggled against work and domestic commitments for five years, gaining only 21 hours before giving up. In March 2010, with my 50th birthday looming but mid-life crisis out of the way, I went back to school for some refresher training with John Barratt of South Downs Hang Gliding. I haven't looked back. 35 hours so far this year; all Pilot flying tasks completed and just the exam to sit; my first modest XC in Spain with JB in October; just upgraded from my old Amour 159 to a Litespeed S4 and looking forward to some great flying in 2011.
